Feeling old. Convert to veganism?

Ha. I doubt I have the discipline required to make such a food sacrifice. I've only recently (past few years) discovered piggy bacon & it's well...delicious. However, Jared Leto of 30STM does make the veganism lifestyle look rather yummy & appealing (based on his Instagram photos). We've been in the new house for over a week now, & I am so glad to say goodbye to Mr. Air Mattress. My sciatica nerve/lower back pain-that-feels-worse-than-childbirth was holding me back from getting all these boxes unpacked. However, I have managed to knock out about 75%. All the big furniture was moved over the weekend, while Noah & I waited for the damn cable guy (10am -noon & then pushed back because the guy was running "a little late" & then doesn't show up after 2pm). Dealing with a teething & semi-grumpy Noah while hubby & guys from work loaded up our bed, Noah's crib, desk, dining table (which was dropped off the balcony), dresser (which h...

Chapter 30.57

Image
It appears I am halfway thru year 30 (and 2013). If my life were a book (or if I put my life in literary terms), I would say that I am near the latter half of Chapter 30. This chapter of my life has been flying by so fast. The 4th of July has come & gone, just like Noah's first 4th of July snug-fit onesie, which we purchased months ago & assumed would be a bit large on him. I find myself grasping, desperately, at the straws of Noah's infant months, as he becomes more & more mobile & gets bigger everyday. He is rolling, army crawling, doing yoga poses, bouncing in his bouncer, trying to walk in his walker, and starting to actually crawl all over the place. Noah has also developed quite a personality - loud, full of life, and tons of laughter. He's definitely not quiet & reserved like his father. He loves to make this hyper, shrill of a squeal that can be heard from the parking lot of our apartment. I am certain our neighbors are anxiously awaiting our pen...

Lazy, hazy days of summer....

.... do not exist anymore. I'm ready for beach or pool time + yummy BBQ's + daiquiris + bonfires + surfers + concerts + roller coasters... I guess, I can probably have a slither of those pleasures this summer....? Personally, with Noah in tow, life is a bit more exciting & surprisingly filled with spontaneity... a different kind of spontaneity. The other day, I told Lane that it seems like just yesterday we were scared newbies in this baby-raising business. I recall the anxiety of preparing to go anywhere with baby. Did we pack enough diapers? Wipes? Extra outfits? Socks? Extra burp cloths? Extra receiving blankets? Swaddle blankets? Antibacterial? Diaper changing pad? Breast milk? Formula for supplementing? Vitamin drops? Bibs? Ghost bear lovey? Eeyore lovey? Bottles? Nipples? Infant Tylenol? Pump? Bottles for storing breast milk? Cooler bag? Ice packs? I had this check list of items that I assumed were necessary. It was very much like that Luvs commercial with the new m...

Like a drum, baby don't stop beating...

Philip Philips is one of those artists that I had never heard of until I saw his video on Jump Start - VH1. Noah seems to like his single For You, specifically the line like a drum, baby don't stop beating . The music video & lyrics are sweet & make me smile. So, every time the song comes on, I tell Noah that his  song is on. He tends to grin & giggle with delight. It has been one of those long & tiring weeks. I find my patience growing thinner as I continue to hold things together. I am grateful for a handful of small things - family, friends, Lane & Noah. Things could always be worse, right? I hate complaining, but sometimes a girl just needs to vent or unload. My brain feels mushy. My back aches. I'm suffering from a visit from Aunt Flo & she brought the unpleasant visitors, Mr. Migraine & Mr. Cramps. Noah woke up around 11:45PM the other night with a shrill scream cry that made me leap out of bed & nearly have a heart attack. Ever since I...

Hurricane

Since music is one of those things I am "passionate" about, I figured I'd take some time to discuss one of my all-time favorite rock bands: 30 Seconds to Mars  They recently released a new album. I feel like many of the tracks are musically similar to those on their previous album - This is War . Speaking of the This is War album, The video for the song  Hurricane  is one of my favorites. It's another one of their lengthy, mini-movie-like-videos. The video is rather kinky, unique & raw. I believe it even required a censor, due to controversial scenes. Personally, I think the video is brilliant. To be completely honest, I did not give the This is War album enough credit when it was first released. I tried comparing it to their sophomore album - A Beautiful Lie . It's only natural to compare albums, but sometimes you just need to look at each album as a separate project, or entity. A Beautiful Lie  is one of my all-time favorite records to date. I can li...
