Pam & Jim + real life antics (as a newly married couple with a baby)

The Office has been one of my favorite shows for many years. I have always adored the "Pam & Jim" falling in love & staying in love story lines. As the show has come to an end, I am filled with a sense of bittersweet memories. I remember watching the show in Florida, during some of my darkest days & nights. My boyfriend, at the time, brought home the first season, after I quit grad school and was feeling rather down. He had hoped it would help cheer me up & get me out of my funk. I wasn't having much luck with the job hunting process, my parents were upset with my academic decisions, and I was even questioning my relationship with that particular boyfriend. We made watching The Office a part of our nightly television ritual. Even when we decided to take a break from our relationship & I moved into my own apartment, we still managed to make watching The Office "our thing". When I started working full-time at an art college, I remember fallin...

A weekend of awesomeness....

My 1st Mother's Day was pretty awesome. Hubby booked me a day of pampering at the Spa at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg. Afterwards, we headed to my parents' house for dinner. Lane grilled chicken, veggies & brats while my mom & I hung out with Noah. Dad arrived with sodas just as the food was being set on the table. Truly a day of relaxation & yumminess. We got my mom an azalea plant in a cute flower box that looks like a white picket fence + a Mother's Day cookie. From Noah, we got her one of those Hallmark handprint/footprint gifts (a frame with his footprints) + a mug with his 2 of his photos & one with her holding him + a framed artwork displaying something sentimental about grandmas & personalized with Noah's name. Overall, it was a great day! The day before (Saturday) we went on the house hunting spree again. We had planned to view 5 houses, but stopped after the 3rd & decided to make an offer on the first house.... the one with the e...

Sunny fiesta weekend leads to a gloomy rainy week?

We went to Plaza Azteca  on Quatro de Mayo & accidentally forgot Noah's pacifier. He had a brief meltdown, but it did not occur until we got back to our vehicle. He woke up from his nap as soon as we placed our lunch order & gave me the sad chin pout. I had his Pooh bear rattle & monkey teething toy. Those toys + me slowly rocking him in his stroller kept him semi-content for the entire 30 minute meal. Personally, I think he was just annoyed by the valley girl wannabe talking loudly in the booth behind us. She was with a guy friend or significant other, and went on & on about how good she looked in whatever photos she was showing him. She talked badly about her so-called friends on "the Facebook" and said she would definitely be "one of those annoying pregnant ladies someday". Her companion asked if she would be like one of their mutual friends & she responded, "Oh no! She's my friend, but sooooo gross!" Geez... what a peach! ...

Korean BBQ + happy baby = Friday night delight

Noah was playing on his Fisher Price Discover 'N Grow Kick & Play Piano  while reruns of Grey's Anatomy was on TV. He still hasn't mastered the back to tummy roll, but he likes to position himself on his side or tilt his head so he can see the screen. After 10 minutes, he decided he was bored & began to protest his play mat. So, we moved to the swing & 37 minutes later, he's taking his afternoon siesta. I decided to throw in 3 semi-frozen chicken breasts into the crock pot with some sesame oil, onion & Korean BBQ sauce jazzed up with a few additional ingredients (mixed in some hot red pepper paste + soy sauce + rice vinegar + green onions + sesame seeds + sugar water). The aroma of yumminess has enveloped my apartment. I plan to make some veggie stir fry & rice too, but was hoping hubby would be home early, in case Noah starts to get fussy while cooking. I already prepped the veggies... chopped some yellow squash, onion, carrots, mushrooms... might...

Kimchi ramen with tofu + my favorite guys = a great evening

I've been using the crockpot ALOT these past few weeks. From pulled bbq chicken to pot roast to Brunswick stew to yesterday's creation of kimchee ramen with tofu. I'm attempting to eat healthier & save money by actually cooking verses spending $$ on crappy takeout. My check up appointment with my OB/GYN went pretty well yesterday. The doctor said she can no longer feel the fibroid. Blood pressure is still high, so I'm staying on the meds...yay. It appears from the 20lbs that I lost at the 6 weeks postpartum check up, 5 of those lbs decided to sneak back on. Sooo, now my goal is to lose at least 45lbs by November. I'm not sure if this is going to happen. On another note, all the nurses & receptionists oooh'ed and ahhh'ed over Noah. He's such a ladies man... totally flashed them all his dazzling gummy smile, while his sparkling blue eyes lit up from all the attention. With regards to the house, we've run into a tiny hurdle. I am describing ...
